My 2015 Beauty Favourites

My 2015 Beauty Favourites | Cate Renée

Well it's come to that time of year again when I round up all my favourites from throughout the year. Although Perth has been blessed with some gorgeous sunshine this past week, I've been tucked up in bed with a head cold and very snotty nose- TMI? Anyways, I wasn't going to let a blinkin' cold stop me from sharing with you my most used and loved beauty products from 2015, so on with it then. I had originally planned to do this post in two separate parts, but my small and much needed blogging hiatus over the Christmas break forced me to mash it all into one big bonanza.

MAKEUP
In terms of makeup this year, I've really had a massive overhaul of old products I'd been hoarding for a few years and re-fallen in love with drugstore products again. There will always be my holy grail products that I'll continue to repurchase time and time again; like my beloved bases Revlon Colour Stay Foundation and Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory. I've also discovered a few new favourites this year: The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder, NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc and the freakin' gorgeous product that is the By Terry Ombre Blackstar, my favourite being Misty Rock. I've also been having quite a moment with a few Revlon products this year and have been very impressed with the quality of their Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow and Colour Stay Brow Maker in Light Brown, which looks super natural but still defines the brow. For eyes there have been quite a few gems that I've rarely strayed from and saw me through each season and my most used would have to be the Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette which is filled with lots of beautiful neutral browns and shimmery golds, perfect for summer and really anytime of the year. Sticking with the gold eyeshadow, Maybelline's Colour Tattoo in Bad To The Bronze is too far off being gold and looks incredible blended with a dark brown to create an awesome bronzey smokey eye! Oohhh I nearly forgot, the Lash Sensational Mascara from Maybelline has become my all-time favourite mascara ever- big statement I know. It has that perfect formula and holds and incredible curl whilst really fans out your lashes without looking clumpy or fake. Okay, so I'll admit it, I am a lipstick hoarder, and I'm not sorry about it. I've added quite a large number of lipsticks that I'd rather not say to my collection this year, but my most worn favourites include two nude shades and a bold colour: Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Asia, L'Oreal Colour Riche Matte in Erotique and Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in As You Want Victoria.

SKINCARE
2015 really become the year of my revolutionised skincare routine. I'd finally given up on some of my old drugstore products and decided it was time to invest a little extra into finding solid products that would actually help my skin look and feel better. I wrote a pretty in-depth post about it not too long ago (see here) which went into detail about my skin story and why I purchased the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel and Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner. I also began to use more serums and night creams this year and I couldn't thank the Dr Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Mushroom Serum enough for bringing my skin back to life and The Body Shop Vitamin E Night Cream for banishing my random dry patches. A Lush cult favourite for skincare has to be the Mask Of Magnaminty which is my saviour when a nasty monthly breakout erupts! And lastly a new discovery that was in my advent calendar was The Body Shop's Honeymania Lip Balm, which for a girl who hates the taste and smell of honey, is amazing and leaves your lips feeling as smooth as a baby's bottom.

HAIR, NAILS & OTHER GOOD THINGS
Since cutting a good few inches off my hair back in July, I've been needing to add a little extra volume when styling my hair and the Schwarzkopf Instant Volume Powder, and a new purchase that was the Diva Speedy 3600 Ceramic Hair Dryer also helps with creating more lift and volume for my thin, fine hair. As for nails I've been loving anything bright or glittery and the Rita Ora for Rimmel Nail Polish in Glastonberry and Max Factor Glossfinity Nail Polish in Angel Nails are no exception, and look better and last even longer with a few coats of Maybelline Super Stay Nail Polish in Crystal Clear. Hand cream is also a must for me but this Satsuma Hand Cream from The Body Shop has not left my side and is nearly all gone- the smell is divine and leaves your hands super soft. Lastly there have been two makeup tools if you will that I've used to death and I finally got my hands on a makeup sponge and what a difference it makes to your base. This one from Real Techniques is awesome and I've been loving the 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek brush from Zoeva for bronzer too.
